Having trouble keeping up with your mortgage or housing expenses? Wondering if refinancing is a good idea? Want to get your finances and credit ready to buy a home? BCHA Housing Counseling Program is a HUD-certified housing counseling agency that may help you with these and other questions about homeownership.
Our professionally trained counselors will design a case management plan to meet your housing needs. Areas of counseling include the following subjects:
If you are facing foreclosure we may be able to help. Our counselors will help to resolve housing related issues by reviewing the client's personal housing situation. Default/Delinquency assistance covers the following topics:
- Negotiating loan modifications
- Bridging the communication gap with lenders and homeowner associations
- Household finances/budgeting
- Financial assistance (to qualified clients, as available)

First Time Homebuyers Workshop
The First Time Homebuyers Workshops educate prospective homebuyers and provide an opportunity to receive a Certificate of Completion on the following topics:
- Discussion on the role of the buyer/seller and the various professionals involved
- Questions to assess readiness to buy
- Preparing for home purchase
- Understanding credit, mortgage financing, tax relief programs, predatory lending and fair housing issues
- One-on-one counseling session to address your individual needs
The workshop is intended to help prospective homebuyers understand the home purchase process and allow them to determine their readiness to purchase a home in Broward County. If you require a Certificate you will have to schedule a one-on-one counseling session in addition to attending the First Time Homebuyer Workshop. Workshops are held on the second Saturday of each month from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM. These workshops are free of charge and are held at the BCHA offices at 4780 North State Road 7, Lauderdale Lakes, FL 33319. We are now accepting registrations for the February 14th workshop. Registration is required, please click here to register. If you receive a message that we are no longer accepting registrations, this means that the current workshop has been filled.
