Attention Landlords

Friday, July 31, 2015

Landlord certification is not required to participate in the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) Program.  If you receive a call about a landlord certification it is a SCAM.  Some landlords are being contacted after they register their properties on and being advised that BCHA requires them to attend a mandatory certification class.  The caller ID displays the BCHA phone number and the caller states the landlord may avoid attending the class by paying a $10 fee.  The caller then requests a credit card number from the landlord to cover the fee.  BCHA is not making these calls and has not authorized anyone else to make them.

BCHA does not require a landlord certification.  There is no charge to landlords for participating in the Housing Choice Voucher Program.  We do not charge any fees for our services connected the voucher program.  Under no circumstances should you pay anyone to become certified as a Housing Choice Voucher landlord.
